The Beautiful Art of Andrew Clemens. |
|
Andrew Clemens was only 13, deaf and
nearly mute due to encephalitis, when he started experimenting with sand
art. He collected multicolored sands and fashioned special tools made
from pieces of hickory and fish hooks. Clemens did not use glue in his
artwork, he only used the pressure of his tightly packed artwork to keep
the image intact. For a person so young and, with so many difficulties,
to be able to make such perfect art is truly a remarkable achievement. He is thought to have produced hundreds of "art bottles" during his lifetime but only few survive today. We can only look at the few remaining pieces of art he made and image what a truly great artist Andrew Clemens must have been… |
